For a year, Babs walked me through one of the biggest transitional phases of my life. I had just moved to a new city and I was overwhelmed by uncomfortable change, difficult relationships, unmet expectations, faith doubts, and mental health struggles. Every Monday, Babs and I would go on a walk and talk about life. It was through these weekly walks that I processed most of my fears and joys. I learned so much about forgiveness, patience, and healthy relationships. I learned how to read my Bible, and still practice her devotional methods 4 years later. I learned that I am loved even when I fail, and that when I fail, there is no shame. It was beautiful to have the space, time, and security to vocalize my thoughts, add another trustworthy voice to my internal dialogue, and be consistently redirected to solid truth. Babs didn't just let me rant, nor did she just pour advice onto me. She built a relationship with me, one founded on vulnerability and trust, from both sides. Every week I looked forward to spending time with her joyfulness, sober mindedness, laughter, and honesty. Babs was more than a redeeming factor in a difficult time, our time together changed my life and continues to impact me to this day.

I’ve had the honor of knowing Babs Murray for over a decade and she continues to be such a dear friend, support, and encourager. Time and time again, the “tough love” from Babs has impacted my life tremendously. Babs clearly presents as someone who prioritizes being non-judgmental towards everyone she meets. This is incredibly valuable to me because she meets me where I am when I think I’ve failed, holds hope for me, and helps me see a bigger picture of how I feel.

Joe and I are so indebted to Babs for her ministry and friendship that has gone ‘the extra mile’ to our kids during their middle and high school years. Over and over, our daughter, specifically, laid claim to the Spiritual Gifts Babs has been so richly given.
Do you need someone with great wisdom and a compassionate heart to listen and lovingly coach with God’s grace? I do. What comfort I take in knowing Babs is here, in this season, equipped and eager to serve.
